concentric vs eccentric contractions
Let's get the housekeeping out of the way before discussing about the different ways of being active. If you want to become stronger and put on that muscle, you would want slower concentric contractions and hold it at the peak of the movement. The muscles are squeezed at this position which results in the greatest amount of muscle hypertrophy with concentric versus eccentric contraction. Note that this is a super important concept to keep in mind of because it's the basis of every work out that you do.
